The evening of 13 April 2013, the International Award for Public Art Presentation Ceremony and Public Art Forum was held. Lewis Biggs, the president of Public Art Award jury, hosted the forum.
　　 　　
Mr. Xu Mingsong, Deputy Chief Editor of Shanghai Fine Arts Publishing House, said: "I particularly want to mention the metro public art forum in this afternoon. It gives me two inspirations. The first thing is the awareness of public art constantly touched with people and the nature, the relationship between people and environment. The description of the composite public space in Osaka subway station by Mr. Hirokawa lets us realize that the public art and urban environment have the slimily organic mechanism with the water and salt. There are many urban problems to be solved between man and nature. It will become an important direction for the public art. 　　Secondly, when we looked at the development of public art in the subway public space, we actually saw its historical context. There are lots of inspirations from historical and cultural resources in the development of Shanghai Metro line. Many Shanghai Metro station has been well presented through the image building. During the process, we can see the entire London Underground public art commission mechanisms provides a good reference to the development of shanghai public art, art management system and operation mechanism. 　　

The establishments of transport Committees and curators’ systerm have been mentioned in the plan of Shanghai Metro public art. But the question is how to truly reflect its public nature during the whole operation process and reflect the relationship between the owners, government, artists and public. I think that with China's urbanization development, citizens’ awareness of public art will be more and more stronger. In fact that many public opinion survey has been done during the Shanghai Metro Public Art planning process reflected a very strong passion and purpose for the development of public art.

Many creation tools and creative approach of underground public art are diversified and having development potential. In fact, we can see the concept art and contemporary art in the London Underground projects. It provided a good reference for the diversity and international development of our metro art. "
