Salvador Mural Project comprised a total of 350 linear feet throughout the city. Six murals measuring 8 feet high were painted on various walls of the city by Baca’s LA team with enthusiastic assistance from members of the community. The community participated fully in all aspects of the project.

The murals gave expression to the concerns and issues of the community. An important theme was the issue of the environment. Another important theme was the protection of children. The theme of indigenous identity and roots was treated at length and woven throughout the murals. Another theme was that of gender equality.The project has attracted the mural artists throughout Central and South America, become an impromptu meeting of the public art situation in Central and South America and El Salvador.
